Black Mahal - Hand Made Caribbean Rosewood Guitar Pick Necklace
Designed and Crafted by: Jesse Esquivel
Black Mahal Guitar Pick Necklace
Featuring a Handmade Caribbean Rosewood Pendant.
This necklace features a Large size guitar pick shaped pendant, it is larger than my standard size playing wood picks, but smaller than my Jumbo size pick - pendants. This large size handmade guitar pick shaped pendant is handmade from Caribbean Rosewood, a very beautiful, dense & durable exotic hardwood. I incorporated the precision laser engraved band logo on one side, & the band name logo on the other side, this necklace is reverse-able, so you can choose either side at any time. The pick - pendant itself measures approx. 1-9/16” or 40mm long, X 1-5/16” or 34mm wide, it is about 4mm thick at the thickest part, as it tapers nicely on each side, the wood is treated with mineral oil & hand rubbed with a natural bees wax paste to protect & enhance the natural colors of the wood. The leather necklace is 21” long (including clasp) by 3mm thick, it features a silver plated lobster clasp, with silver plated findings.
The pendant bail is actually a Tibetan silver charm bead, & a solid sterling silver 10mm jump ring holds onto the jumbo pick itself, the beads consist of two natural wooden beads & two howlite turquoise beads that are separated by a Tibetan silver spacer bead, which accent the overall unique & one of a kind piece.
About the wood:
CARIBBEAN ROSEWOOD (CHECHEN) - Metopium Browneii
Tree is Native to Belize / Mexico.
Caribbean Rosewood is one of the world’s most beautiful woods, although not a true rosewood, Caribbean Rosewood rivals just about any wood in coloration & sheer beauty, with a rosewood look that offers unique coloration and graining. Provides an extreme range of color variability, this wood ranges from cream colored, flame type swirls, on through to gold/orange highlights on top of a medium brown background with black striping. Caribbean Rosewood is a hard & heavy wood, much heavier than red or white oak, a truly gorgeous exotic wood.
About Jesse Esquivel
“What can I say...I love working with wood!
Especially exotic wood. Each piece is its own little work of Nature's Art! I have been working with wood for the better part of my life. My Dad was a cabinet maker by trade, & he taught me at a very early age to never rush a project, & don't even think of cutting corners, & to just let my own creativity & passion drive my woodworking ambitions. His ‘Old School’ ways and work ethic are what drive me today, & I know that with each piece that I produce, there is big part of my Dad in it as well.
My Dad is retired now, and is over 80 years old, but he still keeps himself busy by helping out everybody he knows whenever he can. Whenever I decide to make something out of rare or very rare wood, I make certain that the wood used is re-claimed, salvaged, or from a sustainable harvest. I really enjoy working in my small ‘One Artisan’ shop, & I hope that you find joy in the products I create”.
